Gut Healing Gummies

Homemade Gut Healing Gummies

These homemade gut healing gummies are so simple to make, and are full of nutrients to support your gut and reduce inflammation in your body.

They take minutes to make, and can be beneficial for the whole family!

Ingredients Needed

  • 100% orange juice (not from concentrate)
  • Gelatin (I love to get mine from Thrive Market)
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Black Pepper

You might be wondering why black pepper would be in a gummy recipe. That’s because black pepper helps improve turmeric absorption. You can’t taste the black pepper at all, and I call the black pepper “sprinkles” in the gummies for my kids.

What Makes These Gummies Healthy?

These gummies are full of nutrients that help support your gut, immune system, and reduce inflammation in the body.

They have several ingredients that provide several health benefits including gelatin, turmeric and ginger.

Benefits of Gelatin

Gelatin is a protein derived from collagen, the most abundant protein in the body.

It can provide several health benefits including help support skin health and joints, improve the appearance of hair and nails, support sleep quality, and promote a healthy gut lining (1, 2, 3, 4).

My favorite brands are Great Lakes and Thrive Market’s Beef Gelatin

Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that gives food like curry its yellow color.

It’s full of antioxidants which help reduce inflammation in the body, and can help decrease the risk for health conditions like cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes (5).

You can get high-quality turmeric from your local co-op or an online retailer like The Spice House

Benefits of Ginger

Ginger can be used dried or fresh and is used in both traditional and alternative medicine.

It’s commonly used to treat an upset stomach, but it also has anti-inflammatory properties which helps reduce stress and free radicals in the body (6).

Substitutions and Additions

You can replace the orange juice for any other type of juice (although orange juice is high in Vitamin C which is beneficial for reducing stress in the body).

I also like to add cod liver oil that I get from Fullscript to these for additional nutrients like Vitamin A and D.

Storage

Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups 100% orange juice (not from concentrate)
  • 5 Tbsp. Grass-fed gelatin
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper (helps to enhance absorption of turmeric)

Instructions

  • Add the orange juice to a medium-sized saucepan without the heat on.
  • Sprinkle gelatin into the orange juice and evenly distribute a layer on top. Let the gelatin sit and bloom.
  • Turn stove on medium heat and slowly stir until gelatin is completely dissolved.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in spices.
  • Pour mixture into candy molds or a parchment paper-lined baking dish (I used a 9x5 loaf pan).
  • Allow to set in the fridge for about 2 hours.
  • Cut into individual squares (I cut mine to be about 1 inch by 1/2 inch in size) and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

Note: If you want to make these gummies even more “gummy-like” you can reduce the amount of gelatin to 4 Tbsp.
This recipe makes about 18-24 gummies if you use a 9x5 baking pan and cut them to be about 1 inch by 1/2 inch in size.
