Six Ways to Treat Yourself This Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is often a time when we show love for others, but how often do we spend the time to show ourselves some love? Probably not very often.

That’s why I’ve come up with six ways to treat yourself this Valentine’s Day. Because chances are, we could all use more self-love.

1. Switch to Non-Toxic Body Products: There’s so many toxins in conventional body products and that’s why I’ve been working on switching over to non-toxic products for several years now.

One of my favorite places to get non-toxic products is a Minnesota local store called Modern Roots where they offer non-toxic soap, lotions, and more at a low-cost.

You can also find non-toxic body products companies such as Beautycounter, Annemarie, Native and Primal Life Organics (just to name a few).

2. Get an Instant Pot: If you haven’t jumped on the instant pot bandwagon yet, you might want to join in on the fun. I’m a huge fan of the instant pot because it makes meal prep way less stressful and time consuming. I mean, I’ve cooked a frozen salmon fillet in it in just ten minutes. Say, what?

It’s seriously might be one of the best investments I’ve made, and has saved me a lot of time in the kitchen so I can do more things that I enjoy.

3. Practice Gratitude: I’ve been working on practicing gratitude each morning when I wake up, and one of my favorite ways to do this is in a gratitude journal. Thinking about what you’re grateful for first thing in the morning can really help set the foundation for a more positive day and a healthier mindset. It can be as big as “I’m grateful for my family” to as small as “I’m grateful this hot cup of coffee.”

If you don’t already write down things you’re grateful for on a daily basis, try it out and pay attention to the difference it makes in your attitude and mindset.

4. Get Some Healthy Cookbooks: Want to eat better but not sure what to make? Buying cookbooks is a great way to help you incorporate more high-quality proteins, fats and vegetables in a tasty way. Below is a list of some of my favorite healthy cookbooks:

· Meals Made Simple by Danielle Walker

· Celebrations by Danielle Walker

· Inspiralized by Ali Maffucci

· Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfilippo

· Skinnytaste Gina Homolka

And don’t forget all the gluten-free, low-sugar recipes I have available on my blog!

5. Buy Yourself Some High Quality Chocolate and Coffee: Coffee beans are one of the most heavily sprayed crops, and many chocolate brands are loaded with questionable ingredients.

That’s why one of my favorite way to treat myself is with a good cup of organic coffee and organic dark chocolate. I mean, Valentine’s Day isn’t Valentine’s Day without some good chocolate and coffee, right?

And last but not least…

6. Set time for you: I often hear from people that a lack of accountability and support is a major reason why they aren’t reaching their health goals or making time for themselves.
