5-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cups

These 5-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cups are a perfect treat made with simple, good-for-you ingredients!

A perfect option if you’re craving something sweet, but want to cut down on sugar.

These delicious homemade peanut butter cups are also gluten and dairy-free – making them perfect for any occasion.

Made with just natural peanut butter, cocoa powder, coconut oil, maple syrup, and sea salt – I bet you won’t be able to eat just one!

Tips:

Storage: Since a huge part of this recipe is coconut oil, they can melt pretty easily. It’s best to keep them in the freezer and simply take them out as needed.

Substitutions: You can swap out almond butter instead of peanut butter, just make sure the almond butter is creamy and runny. I like the Costco almond butter best for that.

If you’re looking to reduce sugar intake, you can omit the maple syrup from this recipe – it’s still delicious!

Ingredients:

  •           Peanut Butter: I recommend using a creamy, natural peanut butter. Not only will it not contain added sugars or hydrogenated oils, but it will also work best in this recipe. I like the natural peanut butter from places like Aldi, Costco, Trader Jo’s, or Smucker’s All Natural. Make sure to read the ingredient list and verify the ingredients are just “peanuts” and “salt.”
  •           Coconut Oil: This type of oil works best in this recipe, so I recommend not using any other oil. Look for unrefined, extra-virgin coconut oil. I like to get my coconut oil at places like Trader Jo’s, Aldi, or Target.
  •           Cocoa Powder: Contains polyphenols – an antioxidant that has numerous health benefits. It’s easy to incorporate into things like smoothies, baked goods, homemade hot cocoa, or used instead of chocolate chips in this recipe! Look for unsweetened cocoa powder at places like Target, Trader Jo’s, or Fresh Thyme.
